April 9 - 10, 2011: USHJA Affiliated Clinic with Melanie Smith Taylor

 

 

Icon is pleased to welcome Melanie Smith Taylor, April 9 & 10, 2011.

 

Olympic Team Gold Medalist, Melanie Smith Taylor is an internationally recognized rider and trainer. She was successful in amateur/owner classes before entering the grand prix arena. In 1978 she won the American Grandprix Association’s Overall Rider of the Year. That same year, she became one of only two riders to win the “Triple Crown of Show Jumping” after riding to victory in the American Invitation, the International Jumping Derby and the American Gold Cup. Other accomplishments include winning Team Gold at the Pan American Games, Individual Bronze at the 1980 Olympics and Champion and Reserve Champion at the World Cup Finals. In 1982 she was named the United States Olympic Committee’s Sportswoman of the Year and was inducted into the Tennessee Hall of Fame. The Show Jumping Hall of Fame inducted her in 1998. In 2007 she served as the Chef d’ Equipe for USEF Young Rider team and was named the USEF Developmental Coach of the Year. Melanie continues to serve the industry as a television broadcaster, course designer, judge, trainer and clinician. She operates Wildwood Farms in Germantown, Tennessee. Icon is very proud to host her clinic!

DUE TO CONSTRUCTION ON UNITIA ROAD THAT HAS COMPLETELY CLOSED THAT ROUTE INTO ICON HERE ARE NEW INSTRUCIONS!!!!!

From Lenoir City - take Hwy 321 towards Maryville. Go approx. 8 miles and turn left onto E. Main (also known as Hwy 333) at the blinking yellow caution lights.

At the end of E. Main turn right onto S. Farnum.

Take the 2nd left onto W. College.

At the stop sign go straight. You will see the Friendsville Post Ofiice on your right.

The road will take a sharp left....at the end turn right onto W. Hill.

True to form in Tennessee, W. Hill is also Unitia Rd. Look for the  "The Pup Tent" on the right. Just before the Pup Tent turn right onto Disco Loop Rd.

Icon is the FIFTH driveway on the right. Look for the green gates and flood lights. If you arrive before 7:30pm the gate will automatically open for you.

From I-75 - take the Lenoir City exit. Turn onto Hwy 321 towards Maryville. Follow the same directions as "From Lenoir City" above

 

From Knoxville - take Pellissippi Pkwy (I-140) to Topside Road. Turn right onto Topside (also known as Hwy 333).

Topside will dead-end, turn right onto Louisville Hwy (again, Hwy 333).

Louisville Hwy will dead-end, turn right again onto Mizer Station Rd (still Hwy 333).

Drive approximately 2.5 miles, turn right onto N. Morgan Rd (there is a school zone caution light at the corner of N. Morgan). At the end of N. Morgan, turn right onto W. Hill.

At the second Disco Loop Rd (look for "The Pup Tent") turn right.

Icon is the FIFTH driveway on the right.
